Is our ability to cope with different climates genetic?

As an example I originally come from North of Scotland (very cold and wet if you don’t know) as did every other member of my family going back at least 200 yrs. I have moved around the UK quite a bit over the last few years before settling in London. Today apparently it was 24 C (75F) and I found it completely unbearable. I’ve been here quite a while now as well as having been to much much hotter placesrecently so I thought I would be used to it by now. I don’t consider myself to be that unfit. I’m carrying a few extra lbs but I swim regularly and walk for an hour every day.
So fitness levels aside, are we as seperate cultural groups ‘engineered’ to work at our peak in the geographical locations our own race originated from? If so does that mean I will never fully be at ease in a warm/hot environment?
I don’t think that your ethnic heritage necessarily determines which types of environments you will be comfortable in. I think you get used to whatever climate you live in for a long time.
For example, my mother’s family grew up in Tennessee, where it’s hot in the summer but definitely gets cold in the winter. Then my mother’s brother moved to Florida, where it’s hot year-round, and he has lived there for about 20 years. He can’t stand visiting us in Tennessee anymore, because his body has become accustomed to the climate in Florida. He is always cold when he comes to visit us, even if we think it’s a very warm day.
The only genetic factor that I think affects a person’s ability to adjust to a climate is skin pigmentation. Groups of people who originate in really sunny places have darker skin, because otherwise they’d burn up. But that doesn’t mean that a person from Africa can’t live in London his whole life and be perfectly content. Likewise, a person native to northern Europe can move to Africa and be happy, they’d just probably have to wear a whole lot of sunscreen.
