Pleae Need Urgent Help With Evolution Question!!!!!!!!!!!!?
on his travels, Darwin observed that many organisms have features that appear to help them survive in their lipitor generics specific environment. what is the general term for these features?how do they relate to the fitness of an organism?
I would call them “adaptive traits” or “beneficial traits” (they are not necessarily anatomical … they could be differences in digestive enzymes, or photopigments, for example).
The fitness of an organism is a comparative term. Individuals of a species have higher fitness for an environment than others if they have a combination of traits that gives them some competitive advantages in survival or reproduction.

Help with some evolutionary biology?
um i really dont understand this question… please help. :
Researchers have found that a gene controlling reproduction is linked to the gene for the numbers of digits an organism has. how does this help explain how many vertebrates have five digits per limb, despite the fact that theres is no fitness benefit in having five rather than six or four?
Good question. Ignore the specific characteristic and focus on the general concept:
Any trait that gets tied into reproductive success can ride those coattails to stardom. The trait doesn’t have to be useful, beneficial or adaptive. It can even be deleterious. But if it gets snarled up with the process that promotes the proliferation of progeny, it’s in like Flynn.
Whether, why,or what would link the number or length of digits to reproductive success is a topic of speculation with no current consensus. If you’re interested in the specifics, check out some of the websites below.
Variations of the HOX gene appear to prenatally affect the length and number of digits; these variations also appear to affect sexual development. Is this gene responsible for protein production affecting physical traits? Is the affect on digits merely a tag-along with reproductive success? Is it a deleterious mutation that rarely comes to term? A signal of reproductive fitness? What affect do minor variations have? How prevalent is this link — actonel generic teva what is the magnitude of the effects? Nobody knows the answers.
