Best kickboxing instructional video out there?
I want to learn how to kick box, for self defense/fitness. And the closest classes that teach it are almost 100 miles from where i live. So i need to know what the best video is that i can get to learn this. Has anyone succesfully learned it through an instructional dvd?
the tough part of learning kickboxing as a martial art (and not aerobic) through video is the contact portion of the art.
kickboxing is a contact art, that doesn’t have forms persay, there are combinations, however you want to be able to hit a heavy bag or striking pads to learn how to execute those combinations correctly and have that contact as well..

usually $99.00 and up, they’re great for apartments and just in general (who wants to drill a hole cheap viagra pills in their ceiling and anchor a bag to a beam in the attic, right!) you fill the bottom with water or sand (sand is best) and pull it out of the corner when you’re going to train.. simple!

just one suggestion, i saw that you said you wanted to learn for self defense.. just so you know, kickboxing, like any other martial arts, takes a bit to become accurate and effective enough to use in a self defense situation..
may i suggest that you take a day or weekend and head to the city and take a “self defense” course..
self defense courses teach you things that kickboxing doesn’t, such as awareness, reactive movements, and what to do if you’re attacked from behind or with a weapon. valueable tools i think every woman and man for that matter should learn. krav maga is the best i can recommend, however there are many others.

A good book for boxing for fitness?
I am looking to get into a fitness program that is challenging, rewarding, and fun. I think a boxing workout would be great (boxercise ?) but don’t want to have to go to a gym or health club. I was wondering if any one has any tips including books or videos for a home workout.
You can buy a punching bag do train on and free weights (they are the best and not that expensive) with a power rack (great for doing Bench Press as well as Squat and other exercises).

Ice Hockey fitness plan/gym workout?
Im not sure how to get started.. ive joined a gym and need conditioning for ice hockey. key factors being:
- strength (upper and lower)
- flexibilty
- speed
- core strength
- power
basically everything but i need a plan where i ain’t gonna tire myself out too much. Personal fitness trainers much welcomed to answer and anyone else.
also.. a nutrition plan.
Im 16 and weigh approx 9 and a half stone. and do 3-5 hours a week of ice hockey. (plus 2 hours of boxing)
well in hockey it takes alot of cordination 2 so just figure a way out 2 test ur cordination honestly if ur at a gym just look at the people around you

Ohh, I Forgot To Mention I Also Use A powerball Daily And Get It up To 11.000 RPM
No offence to these other guys who are saying you should use a jump rope but that just improves your stamina. I am 16 years old and have done muay thai also known as thai boxing for many years now. Good idea in your weightlifting regime would be to do low weight and high repetitions. Doing this improves your muscular endurance. This means that you can last longer in a fight due to your muscles not tiring out quickly.
Even though you do bench presses and bicep curl.. I am presuming. What else do you do. I reccommend working on your triceps, forearms, wrists and core muscles. Especially your core muscles for they determine the outcome of a fight a lot in boxing. There are various exercises for core muscles such as leg raises, trunk twists (a variation of situps), plank, side plank, dorsal raises etc.
For your forearms you can do forearm curls. For your triceps you can do tricep curls, french presses. Anyway there is so much I know that I can’t fit into one comment. If there is anything else you need to know just ask. I know a lot of stuff that will help you but I am getting knackered typing.

hello, im looking for a boxing type of fitness place to use not so much for boxing as a sport, but to exercise and get in shape. ive done it before and used the heavy jump ropes, heavy bags, and i wish to do this for fitness. i have some herniated discs in my back as well, a lot of them acually. anyone have opinions on how to become fit and not ruin my back any further? my pain mgt doc says hell no! no working out? my chiropractor says dont sit at home, go all vitamins online workout, just be careful? i thought boxing type workouts ie. aerobics maybe, treadmill etc thanks!
