I am unsure of my best path to medical school?
I am very interested in sports and love anything having to do with physical fitness. I am a senior in high school this year and was curious about getting a degree in exercise science. My eventual goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon. I was wondering if you can Major in ES and then move on to medical school. Will this fill the requirements? I am very unsure of how this works but I would think that would fulfill most requirements.
I think it would be good because I could be a personal trainer while in medical school? Your thoughts/answers?
Technically, you can major in anything as long as you take the Pre-Med requirements. My feeling is that it is always a good idea to do more than the minimum required — which is why so many doctors majored in biology or chemistry before going to medical school.
For orthopedics, this could be a good fit. My advice would be to make sure you go to a highly regarded undergraduate school and to take more biology and chemistry than is required.
